Inter-Caste Marriage Scheme: Every year lakhs of marriages take place across the country, for this the wedding procession and other things are booked many months in advance. The expenses on a wedding are also very high; today a typical wedding is almost certain to cost Rs 10 to 15 lakh. In such a situation, many people have to take a loan for this or take money from friends and relatives, but do you know that there are many such schemes across the country, in which money is given by the government after marriage.
Central and state government schemes
In fact, many schemes are run by the central and state governments to promote intercaste marriages. In this, the couple who performs such marriages gets money. That is, if you have married a girl of another caste in another state, then you can avail the benefit of this scheme. That means, if upper caste people marry into a Dalit family, they can get money under the Intercaste Marriage Scheme.
About Rs 2.5 lakh is given by Dr. Ambedkar Foundation to an upper caste family for marriage in a Dalit family. This amount is given by the Central Government. This scheme was started in 2013. After which people doing such marriages take the benefit of this scheme.
Financial help is available in these states
Apart from the central government, state governments also run similar schemes for intercaste marriages. For marrying a Dalit, the Rajasthan government gives up to Rs 5 lakh, while the UP government gives Rs 50,000 to Rs 2 lakh. Apart from this, Haryana government also provides financial assistance of Rs 2.5 lakh. Maharashtra government also runs a similar scheme.
